The Rooftop Singers were a folk music trio consisting of Erik Darling, Bill Svanoe, and Lynne Taylor. They were best known for their hit song "Walk Right In" which reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1963.
Lynne Taylor was born on October 5, 1942 in Tacoma, Washington. She started singing at a young age and joined The Rooftop Singers in 1962. Taylor sang lead vocals on "Walk Right In" and several other popular songs by the group.
After The Rooftop Singers disbanded in 1967, Taylor continued to perform music as a solo artist and as part of various groups. She also worked as a music teacher and vocal coach.
In 1996, Taylor suffered a stroke while performing at a music festival in Ireland. She passed away on August 25, 1996 at the age of 53. However, her music and the legacy of The Rooftop Singers continue to be celebrated by fans of folk and Americana music.
